Every ritual performed during Kali Chaudas is usually followed in the evening hours. These help cleanse oneself, the home, and the environment from the negative energies.

Holy Bath:

Wake up in the Brahma mahurat, between 4-6 AM. Take a holy bath of gangajal water, or in holy rivers. This purifies the body and resists the evil energies in the air.  

Worship:

After a holy bath, decorate an idol/ a picture of Lord Krishna, offer flowers, sweets, and chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra:

Also, show your sincere obeisances to Mother Kali, light the ghee lamps in her temple, and offer sweets.

The one who sincerely observes this day, Goddess Kali protects them from negative/evil energies. And, chanting Lord Krishna's holy names protects them from inner demons, like anger, depression, ego, jealousy, fear, and lust.

Other than the worship, there are several old traditions and customs that are performed on this day. 

In many northern and western states of India, it is celebrated as choti Diwali. People lit up a few lamps and placed them at the entrance door, the kitchen, and the altar.

What should we not do on Kali Chaudas?
