Verse 1
He, my greatly beloved, is by nature so heedless — how then will he ever come to know my pain?
Verse 2
I wish to go to him, yet my resolve breaks down; I cannot bear these surging waves of separation.
Verse 3
O sakhi, why has Kana ignored me so? I do not know — my mind, all afire, feels ready to leave me.
Verse 4
Among all the sakhis, you are the wisest one — what clever counsel could I possibly teach you?
Verse 5
Knowing my such deep longing, for this very reason I have offered my life at your feet.
Verse 6
Now you devise some plan, so that my union with Kanu may come free of all obstruction.
Verse 7
If, while still living, I am able to meet Kana, then, says Govinda dasa, I shall forever sing your praises.
