Verse 1
The soft, fresh beauty of her tender body flows down over the earth itself; in the gentle waves of her faint smile, even Cupid himself swoons.
Verse 2
What was that lovely woman I glimpsed for just a moment? My composure has fled far away; my mind is ceaselessly troubled -- why does it grieve so constantly?
Verse 3
Laughing again and again, swaying her body, she moves on as if dancing; with the deadly arrows of her sidelong glances, she rushes to pierce my very life.
Verse 4
A garland of malati flowers hangs at her throat, swaying over her heart; drunken bees, rising and falling, wander round and round it.
Verse 5
The mark of a sandalwood dot glows on her forehead, and it has struck straight into my heart; I know not what illness has taken root within me -- out of shame before others, I dare not say.
Verse 6
Such is the hardened heart of this woman -- what lies within it never comes out; I know not what its true measure could be, says the servant Govinda.
