Verse 1
O friend, whatever I was doing, playing about, I stopped, for on the path I saw what seemed to be a garland of moons; his matchless beauty struck my very eyes, and its sweetness awakens again and again within my heart.
Verse 2
O friend, O friend, seeing me, that lady simply stood there smiling in wonder; her face glimmered with a spotless light, its restless nose graced by a pearl ornament.
Verse 3
When her colorful hair spread loose across her back, my mind was startled, my gaze caught at once; never have I seen a woman so beautifully tressed — her very image remains etched now upon my heart.
Verse 4
The beauty of the lac-dye upon her toenails and toes, her ten toes red as the rising moon, awakens such longing; when will I be granted permission to serve those very lotus feet in my heart? — thus prays Govinda Dasa.
