Verse 1
sidati sakhi mama hrdayam adhiram
yad abhajam iha na hi gokula-viram
Verse 2
nakarnayam ati-suhrd-upadesam
madhava-catu-patalam api lesam
Verse 3
nalokayam arpitam uru-haram
pranamantam ca dayitam anuvaram
Verse 4
hanta sanatana-gunam abhiyantam
kim adharayam aham urasi na kantam
Verse 1
O friend, my restless heart sinks in anguish, because I did not embrace here the hero of Gokula when I had the chance.
Verse 2
I did not listen, even a little, to the well-meaning advice of my dearest friends, nor to Madhava's own conciliatory words.
Verse 3
I did not even look at my beloved, though he offered me a magnificent necklace and bowed low before me again and again, the most excellent of lovers.
Verse 4
Alas, why did I not draw to my own breast my beloved, endowed with eternal, constant qualities, as he came toward me?
