Kale Hanuman Ji Temple, Jaipur

Tucked inside the narrow lanes of the Chandi ki Taksal area near Hawa Mahal, this temple draws devotees with something you won't find in most Hanuman temples - a naturally black idol of Lord Hanuman, carved from a single dark stone. Unlike the usual vermillion-coated orange idols seen across the country, this one has retained its original black hue for centuries. Locals believe that praying here helps overcome the ill effects of Shani (Saturn) and brings strength, protection, and peace during difficult times.
 

Believed to be around 1,000 years old, the temple's origins are rooted in legend. A sage is said to have seen Lord Hanuman in a dream, which led to the discovery of the black deity buried at this site. Over time, the shrine grew in significance. When Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II founded Jaipur and established the silver coin mint nearby, the temple gained further royal patronage. The modern structure was later developed in 1961 by Pandit Radhe Lal Choubey.
