History & About

Sri Govind Dev Ji Mandir Jaipur is one of Rajasthan's most sacred Vaishnava shrines, located within the City Palace complex at Jalebi Chowk. The presiding deity, Sri Sri Radha Govind Dev Ji, is believed to be Bajrakrit, crafted by Bajranabh, the great-grandson of Lord Krishna, and is said to resemble the Lord’s divine form.

The deity was originally discovered by Srila Rupa Goswami at Goma Teela in Vrindavan around 1525 AD. During Aurangzeb's reign, it was moved for protection and eventually brought to Jaipur by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who installed Govind Dev Ji at the City Palace in 1735. The Maharaja regarded the Lord as the true sovereign ruler of Jaipur.

Today, Jaipur Govind Dev Ji Temple draws thousands of devotees daily for seven aartis, from Mangala to Shayan, each a deeply moving act of devotion in the Pink City’s spiritual heart.
