Verse 1
O Radhe, make your heart compassionate, for the very life and soul of Gokula is being torn apart, his heart struck by the arrow of your sidelong glance.
Verse 2
His flute, resting like a swan in his left lotus hand, once skilled in the fifth note, now keeps the vow of a silent sage, as if from the weight of despondency.
Verse 3
His forest garland, whose vast fragrance draws swarms of wandering bees, has slipped from his neck and now withers away in the forest.
Verse 4
His very body grows thin, all its playfulness abandoned; he, the eternal delight of every heart, wastes away in the shelter of a mountain cave.
