Verse 1
Taking golden jasmine flowers, the fair one carefully fashions an image, shaping it with great care.
Verse 2
Feeling your very presence in it, she embraces it — but so intense is her longing that this body of flowers burns to ashes from the heat within her.
Verse 3
Listen, listen, O daughter of King Vrishabhanu — Murari himself burns in the very fire of separation from you.
Verse 4
His limbs, like clusters of dark blue lotus petals, cannot be seen through the constant waves of tears from his eyes.
Verse 5
His flute lies fallen, cast far aside; every moment he is consumed, filled utterly with the burning fire of desire.
Verse 6
His peacock-feathered crown lies scattered and undone; meeting with his companions, his very life ebbs away.
Verse 7
His life remains now only in the hope of your love; at your feet, so speaks Govinda Dasa.
