Verse 1
This woman can no longer settle to any other activity; it seems she has already met the moon-like Shyama in her mind.
Verse 2
She sighs deeply, gazing into the distance; the kadamba flower has blossomed, and her face rests heavily, again and again, upon the palm of her hand.
Verse 3
Every moment her body twists into some new posture; without pause, gooseflesh rises in tiny buds across her limbs.
Verse 4
However much she tries to hide her inner feeling, it will not stay hidden; the pain of her heart tells itself completely upon her face.
Verse 5
With great effort she restrains her restless eyes; in a voice choked with feeling she speaks only broken, half-formed words.
Verse 6
Under one pretext her limbs move, under another her eyes wander toward the path; again and again, alone, she paces back and forth.
Verse 7
Let the reverence and shame owed to her elders remain far away — Govinda Dasa says she has fallen into deep trouble.
