Verse 1
The moon is faint before the watchful eyes of the elders; she covers her own moon-like face with a dark blue wrap.
Verse 2
It is as though, in that night of dense, impenetrable darkness, the very lamp of Kamadeva were showing her the way.
Verse 3
The broad-hipped one sets out to meet Hari; her gait very slow, her eagerness spreading wide within her.
Verse 4
Trembling with the ache of longing, she takes only two or four steps at a time; the beautiful woman lets fall the playful lotus she carried in hand.
Verse 5
She has cast off the malati-flower garland from her hair, and let fall her jeweled necklace as well.
Verse 6
Overwhelmed and bewildered by the weight of this new passion, her ornaments now seem to reproach the very beauty of her full breasts by comparison.
Verse 7
Only her dark blue garment remains of all her attire; she has met him in the forest bower — so says Govinda Dasa.
