guru duru bañca ujorala canda
gurujana nayana padahi pada phanda
Verse 2
tāhe ati duratara pantha sañcāra
tatahi kalābatī calu abhisāra
Verse 3
ki kahaba mādhaba premaka rīta
tuyā anurāgiṇī tri-bhubana jita
Verse 4
yāhā dhanī dhādhase bhāńa dhunāna
sādhase dhā-oye katahu pāñcabāṇa
Verse 5
so tohe kuñje milala nirabādha
gobinda-dāsa hake pūrala sādha
Verse 1
The moon shines bright, making the path past the elders' watch far and difficult; at every step, the eyes of the elders become a trap.
Verse 2
Upon that path, so very hard and far to travel, the graceful one nonetheless goes forth on her nocturnal tryst.
Verse 3
What can I say of the ways of love for Madhava? She who is devoted to you has, through that very love, conquered all three worlds.
Verse 4
Wherever that woman puts even the moon itself to shame, there too the five-arrowed Kamadeva relentlessly drives her onward with longing.
Verse 5
She met you in the forest bower, without any hindrance at all — Govinda Dasa says her heart's desire has now been fulfilled.
