e-i ta brndabana-pathe
niti niti kari gatagate
Verse 2
hate kari la-i ya-i sona
tumi ke na kahe hena jana
Verse 3
tumi dekhi puchaha bada-i
kisera dana cahena kana-i
Verse 4
sange sabe ghrtera pasara
tahe kene eteka janjala
Verse 5
tumi ta baraja yuba-raja
tumi kene karibe akaja
Verse 6
dura kara hasa parihasa
kahatahim gobinda-dasa
Verse 1
This is indeed the path through Vrindavana forest, along which we pass to and fro, day after day.
Verse 2
You stand there with your hand out for gold — who are you? Is there no one who can even tell us your name?
Verse 3
Seeing you like this, we ask further: what sort of toll is it that Kanai wants from us?
Verse 4
We carry with us only baskets of ghee — why then make such a great commotion over it?
Verse 5
You are, after all, the young prince of Vraja — why would you stoop to doing such an improper thing?
Verse 6
Set aside your laughing and your joking — so speaks Govinda Dasa.
