Verse 9

Verse 1
Speaking such words, the Vraja women stood with tearful eyes.
Verse 2
Their desires all broken, their faces bowed, they scratched lines upon the ground with their nails.
Verse 3
With troubled hearts and choked voices they said: "We cannot bear your merciless words, sharp as arrows."
Verse 4
"Listen, listen, you cunning dark moon -- how can you speak of leaving after such a bond as this?"
Verse 5
"You would break the good name and honour of cowherd girls -- as though snatching away the very anklets that jingle at our feet."
Verse 6
"Now, deceitfully, you speak words dressed as righteousness -- is it righteous to abandon a helpless maiden?"
Verse 7
"We surrendered our lives to you and tasted your love's flavour; having left your feet now, where else could we go?"
Verse 8
Hearing the Vraja girls speak thus together, the son of Nanda became joyful.
Verse 9
Blessed by the poet's grace, he takes his delight there; Govinda Dasa beholds it all with joy.
