Translation

Verse 1

His limbs scented and adorned with sandalwood, his enchanting form purifying the entire universe, the radiance of his toenails putting even the moon to shame — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!

Verse 2

His own body's hairs standing on end, his eyes ever brimming with tears, merciful to living beings, tearing apart their suffering, becoming a very ocean of tears while counting the holy names by the thousand — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!

Verse 3

Whose roaring cries and thundering rebukes in the joy of sankirtana make the sins of the age of Kali tremble at the mere sight of his eyes, whose feet's dust strikes down all the wicked — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!

Verse 4

Whose lion-like gait outdoes even Shiva's tandava dance, whose nature is to mercifully deliver the fallen, before whose toenail-moon even Brahma and Shiva bow — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!

Verse 5

Whose fair limbs are wreathed with garlands of malati flowers, from whom the Ganges seems to hang as if from Mount Meru, whose moon-face bears a gentle, sweet smile and speech — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!

Verse 6

Whose forehead is beautified with sandalwood tilaka, whose broad body is anointed with kumkum, whose toenail-moon is served even by Shiva, the husband of Uma — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!

Verse 7

Who is wholly governed by devotion, whose bearing is peaceful and restrained, whose every movement is itself a beautiful dance, whose entire body is adorned with garlands — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!

Verse 8

Who is detached from all worldly enjoyment, dressed in the garb of a sannyasi, who let go his sikha upon entering that renounced order, whose heart established both devotion and detachment as the path — O pure golden one, glory to you, O Gaura, obeisances unto you!
