Translation

Verse 1

In this age of Kali, learned sages openly worship, through the sacrifice of loud congregational chanting, that Krishna who — owing to the abundance of His own effulgence — has given up His dark hue; and they declare Him to be the worshipable Deity of all who are situated in the fourth ashrama of renunciation. May that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 2

Displaying pastimes dear even to the sinful, He who thoroughly dispels mother Sachi's grief through resounding cries of "Jaya!", His waist wrapped in cloth whose brilliance rivals the rising sun — may that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 3

Eager to taste for Himself some portion of the boundless, sweet ocean of loving mellows belonging to a certain group of devotees, He concealed His own hue, manifesting instead the radiance that belongs to them. May that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 4

He whom those long attached in love to a demoniac mentality never approach, yet who is, for surrendered souls, the divine nature presiding as the worshipable Deity throughout the three worlds — that glorious Lord, ever triumphant, sweet with spontaneous bliss — may that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 5

He who is the refuge of the people of Pundra-desha, who revealed the glory of Navadvipa, who by His birth adorns the world-honored family of learned brahmanas, and who, by accepting it, purifies on this earth the station of the paramahamsa renounced order — may that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 6

He who first drinks with His own mouth the sweet nectar of the holy name, then releases it through the gateway of His eyes mixed with a thick flood of tears, His body thrilling with ecstasy, in order to reveal on this earth the true nature of divine love — may that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 7

Revealing a form radiant like fresh gold, an ornament swinging at His waist, His gait resembling that of a young royal elephant, He instructs His dear devotees through the very charm of His own garland's fallen petals. May that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 8

Whose mere smiling glance removes the sorrow of everyone all around, whose very first word makes multitudes of auspiciousness blossom forth, and whose shelter at His feet grants an abundance of love to everyone who takes it — may that Lord, whose very form is Chaitanya, mercifully bestow His grace upon us in full.

Verse 9

Whatever person, with a joyful heart, recites this octet of verses — dense with the fresh fragrance of a bouquet of the glories of Sachi's son — becomes blessed with fortune; granting him loving attachment to His own lotus feet, the Lord makes him happy at every step, without obstruction.
