Tadkeshwar Mahadev Temple

Situated in the heart of Jaipur’s old city, Tadkeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the city’s most revered temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The history of Tadkeshwar Mahadev Temple is believed to date back to the time of Jaipur’s establishment in 1727 or even earlier. According to local tradition, the sacred Shivlinga is swayambhu, meaning self-manifested, and was discovered in an area once filled with palm trees, from which the temple derives its name. The present structure is believed to have been designed during the early planning of Jaipur city under architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. Over the centuries, the temple has remained a major spiritual landmark for Shiva devotees in Jaipur.
