Translation

Verse 1

Om, obeisances to Nṛsiṁha, the man-lion. Om, obeisances to the great lion. Om, obeisances to the divine lion. Om, obeisances to the mighty one. Om, obeisances to the fierce lion. Om, obeisances to the great Lord.

Verse 2

Glory to Nṛsiṁha, glory to Śrī Nṛsiṁha! Glory, glory to Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva! Glory to the Lord of Prahlāda, the bee who hovers at the lotus face of Padmā (Lakṣmī)!

Verse 3

He is the man-lion, the great lion, the divine lion and the mighty one; the fierce lion, the great Lord, the one who came forth from the pillar, and the one with fierce eyes.

Verse 4

He is the terrible one, wonderful in every way, full of splendour, the bliss of yoga, Trivikrama; he is Hari, the one who roars like a tumult, the holder of the disc, the victorious one who makes victory grow.

Verse 5

He is the five-faced one, the Supreme Brahman, the gentle one who is yet fearsome in prowess; his face blazes with flames, he wears a garland of flames, he is a great blaze, the great master.

Verse 6

He has an eye on his forehead and a thousand eyes; he is hard to look upon and scorches his foes. His great fangs are his weapons; he is all-wise, fierce in anger and ever auspicious.

Verse 7

He is the destroyer of Hiraṇyakaśipu, the crusher of the Daityas and Dānavas; auspicious in his qualities, supremely auspicious, auspicious in strength, and kind and gracious.

Verse 8

He is formidable and exceedingly dreadful, the one who brings change and the doer of all things; he is Śiṁśumāra, the cosmic form of the heavens, the soul of the three worlds, the ruler, the Lord of all, the all-pervading one.

Verse 9

His roar is terrifying, yet he is divine; he is Acyuta, the all-seeing sage, Mādhava; he is Adhokṣaja, the imperishable, the destroyer, the one who wears a forest garland, the giver of boons.

Verse 10

He sustains the universe; he is wonderful and auspicious, he is Viṣṇu and Puruṣottama. His weapons never miss their mark, his nails are his weapons, he shines like the sun, and he is the Lord of the gods.

Verse 11

He has a thousand arms and knows everything; he grants every perfection. His fangs and nails are hard as thunderbolts, his roar is mighty, and he scorches the enemy.

Verse 12

He is the one form of all mantras, he tears apart every yantra, and he is the essence of all tantras; he is unmanifest and also fully manifest, and he is tenderly affectionate to his devotees.

Verse 13

He appeared in the bright fortnight of the month of Vaiśākha; he is loving to those who take shelter of him. His fame is noble and wide, he is pure-souled, great-souled, and fierce in prowess.

Verse 14

He is worshipped by the three Vedas; he is Bhagavān, the Supreme Lord. He bears the mark of Śrīvatsa, he is the abode of Śrī (Lakṣmī), he pervades the universe, and the universe is his form.

Verse 15

He is the protector of the world and the Lord of the world; his body is immense, and he bears a twofold form of man and lion. He is the Supersoul, the supreme light, beyond the material qualities, the man-lion.

Verse 16

He is the Supreme Truth and the supreme abode; his form is eternity, knowledge and bliss. He is Lakṣmī-Nṛsiṁha, the soul of all, steady and wise, the protector of Prahlāda.

Verse 17

These are the one hundred and eight names of Lakṣmī-Nṛsiṁha. Whoever recites them with devotion at the three junctures of the day (dawn, noon and dusk) will attain everything he desires.
