O Lord Hari, be compassionate -- your friend, her heart pierced by the sharp arrow of your glance, her body grown thin, yet somehow still lives.
Verse 2

Verse 4
O Madhava, you who are initiated into the great vow of that sacrifice which grants fearlessness to the people of the cowherd village -- alas, O eternal one, how can this girl, possessed of such a wealth of virtues, deserve to suffer such a terrible condition?
