Gita Jayanti Date, Tithi and Day of observance
Gita Jayanti is celebrated by remembering the message of Lord Krishna and sharing the wisdom to spread enlightenment. Gita Jayanti is celebrated on the Mokshada Ekadashi day of Shukla paksha in the Hindu month of Margashirsha.
This year the Ekadashi festival begins on 11th December from 3:42 AM and completes on the 12th of December at 1:09 AM. Celebration of Gita Jayanti 2024 will be observed on the 11th of December, Wednesday.
Why do we celebrate Gita Jayanti?
The Gita Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the advent of Srimad Bhagavad-Gita. Lord Sri Krishna imparted the timeless wisdom of Bhagavad-Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra around 5000 years ago. The episode of Bhagavad-Gita was recorded by Srila Vyasadeva with the help of Lord Ganesha in the Bhishma Parva of the great epic, Mahabharata.
The celebration is not merely religious but is an immensely significant observation for spiritual upliftment. Reading the potent verses of Bhagavad-Gita, reciting, reflecting and discussion their imports enlightens one on the path of fulfilment and self-discovery. How to celebrate Gita Jayanti?
The auspicious festival of Gita Jayanti is celebrated across the globe with multiple jubilant practices to honor and worship Lord Krishna. Devotees read the 700 verses of Bhagavad-Gita, recite the verses both individually and collectively, discuss the variegated subjects explained in Bhagavad-Gita. Lord Krishna is uniquely worshiped by reciting the enlightening texts of Bhagavad-Gita.
Temple of Lord Krishna is decorated, and Gita Yajna is performed to please the Lord and invite His blessings. This unique festival is celebrated for about two months as “Gita Jayanti Months”, where devotees widely distribute the matchless gift of Srimad Bhagavad-Gita to everyone. Mokshada Ekadashi on this day is observed with fasting from grains and chanting Hare Krishna Mahamantra.
Celebrate Gita Jayanti with Gupt Vrindavan Dham

Throughout the day devotees will perform Harinaam Sankirtan, read and discuss the message of Bhagavad-Gita, distribute copies of Bhagavad-Gita and worship Lord Krishna to attract His divine blessings.
Book Marathon 2024: Inauguration of the Book Distribution Month
